This was found in the MDSTMARY archives of 10/26/1997

Elizabeth Esther Byrd born 1837 in St. Mary's Co. MD married in Baltimore on
4/25/1859 to Elkane Edwards born 1837 in St. Mary's Co. MD. They had a
daughter, Ida C. Edwards who was born in 1860. Elkane Edwards is shown in
the Census as being a lighthouse keeper.

Also,
Richard D. Edwards was a witness to Elkanah Edwards 1847 Will (Extract)

The last Will and Testament of Elkanah Edwards. In the name of God, Amen.
I, Elkanah Edwards of St. Mary's Co., in the state of Maryland; being sick
and weak in body but of sound and disposing mind, memory and
understanding... First and principally, I commit my soul into the hands of
Almighty, God, and my body to the earth to be decently buried at the
discretion of my Executor herein after named, and after my debts, are paid
and funeral charges are also paid, I devise and bequest as follows. Item.
I give and bequeath unto my daughter, Sarah Ann Harrison, wife of John
Harrison, one half of all my Real Estate, and to Thomas Dent Edwards,
Elkanah Edwards, and Mary Francis Edwards, children of my son, Harrison
Edwards, the other half to be equally divided between them. Item. I give
and bequeath unto my daughter, Sarah Ann Harrison, one infant negro child
called Sophia, and one negro girl, Adeline. Item. I give and bequeath unto
Clarissa Edwards, wife of my son, Harrison Edwards, one negro girl, Susan
and her infant child, not yet named. Item. I give and bequeath unto Mary
Cartwright, daughter of the late Alexander F. Cartwright, one bed, bedstead
and furniture known as the bed of my late wife. Item. I give and bequeath
unto my daughter, Sarah Ann Harrison, one half of all the rest and residue
of my estate, personal property, not herein mentioned or bequeath, and to my
grandchildren; Thomas Dent Edwards, Elkanah Edwards, and Mary Frances
Edwards, children of my son, Harrison Edwards, The other half of all my
personal property to be equally divided between them. And lastly, I do
constitute and appoint John Harrison to be my sole executor of this my last
will and testament. 5/25/1847
