Any ideas on who are the parents of Richard D. Edwards?

Yes, Elkanah is an unusual name as well as Stourton which is also a given
name in this family. Also, Elkanah had a grandson named Thomas Dent Edwards
which is a name that was used here in Kentucky with this Edwards family.

Thomas Edwards came to Kentucky around 1800. In 1804, his children were
attending Hardin's Creek school with the children of Mary Roberts, Eli
Adams, Mrs. Dean, Henry Clements, Clement Parsons, Thomas Murphy,
Christopher Doughterty and others. Stourton Edwards, Scholar was the
teacher.

James Chappelear's Will 9/20/1808 10/11/1808
lists Thomas Edwards as his grandson
lists Elkanah Edwards, a Negro boy named Bob until Elkanah arrives at the
age of 21..
lists son, John Chappelear and Elkanah Edwards as executors...

Assuming that under 21 aged Elkanah and Elkanah the executor are two
different people???
