Will of Samuel Wimsatt, Washington, D.C., 11/24/1837-11/30/1837. All
property to wife, Elizabeth Wimsatt during her life, to be distributed
equally at her death between my 10 children: Richard, Sophia, Julia Ann,
Eleanor, JOSEPH MARCUS, Ann, John Samuel, William Henry, and Mary Agnes.
(There's only 9 children named). Exec.: Wife, Elizabeth Wimsatt and son,
Richard Wimsatt. Wit.: Peter Hepburn, William A. Harris, William T.
Doniphan. (District of Columbia Probate Records, 1836-1847).

Good Morning List!
In an effort to identify the parents of Marcus Wimsatt b. abt 1810, Maryland
according the the 1850 & 1860 Marion County, Kentucky census, I have hit
upon this Samuel Wimsatt of St. Mary's County, Maryland as a likely father
for him. Samuel Wimsatt was the son of Robert Wimsatt d. c. 2/1794 and
Dorothy Abell:

"May 6, 1801
JJ JF 1 Pg. 196-197
Saint Marys County. To wit the 6th day of May 1801~~~~~
The account of Robert Wimsatt late of Saint Mary's County deceased by
Dorothy Wimsatt administratix.
" <snip>The residue to be divided among the descendants heirs
Nine Children. To wit Bennett, Ann, Elizabeth, Samuel, Catherine, Joseph,
Gerrard, Susanna, and Clare L34. 19..3 1/9 Each is........."

Samuel Wimsatt m/1 Elizabeth Davis, Dec 10, 1795, SMCM (Reno/Fresco) and
died Nov 8 , 1837, Washington, DC (Tom Jennings). I do not have any
children for this couple, and hope you can help me fill in the gaps and
maybe find that Marcus Wimsatt b abt 1810 is their son.

The only small clue I have to date is found in Gerald Thompson's KENTUCKY
PIONEERS VOL I THE ROLLING FORK SETTLEMENT, 1983, p. 129 where he states
that Jane Wimsatt, (daughter of Joseph Wimsatt and Sally Stone,) Marcus
Wimsatt's first wife was the mother of Samuel b 1838. This is the first son
I have found for Marcus and he MAY be named after Marcus' Father.

The records below are all I have found so far that might pertain to this
Samuel Wimsatt and his maybe son Marcus.
