There are a couple of land records in Frederick and Prince George County, MD that mention a "Mark Mattingly, weaver" in 1760 and 1763. I'm not sure if this is the same Mark Mattingly mentioned in Elizabeth Greenoch's will or not. I'm recalling from memory but I believe that there was also a mention of a Mark Mattingly in Virginia in the 1780's. Again, I'm not sure if this is one Mark or several.
Paul Mattingly
P.S. For what its worth... I have often thought that this Mark may not have been John's son but rather his brother. Since, we have no idea who Cezar's children were (with the exception of John) and because Mark is not listed in any of the distributions of John's estate I wonder if he wasn't John's brother. We know that there are many Mattinglys in MD in the mid 1700's that we can not account for as children/grandchildren of Thomas II or children/grandchildren of John, son of Cezar. So Cezar surely must have had several sons. Living close by, Elizabeth Greenoch would certainly have know Mark (her brother-in-law's brother) and having no heirs may have been acknowledging him.

William Brewer, father of Grace Brewer, was deceased by 3/29/1701 which
means that Grace was born in or before that year. Therefore, she was
certainly old enough to have been the mother of all of John Mattingly's
children. John Baptist might be the only exception. Right now I have him
born 1712-1721.
Incidentally, I have 8 children for John Mattingly. Don't forget Mark!
Will of Elizabeth Greenoch is the one and only time I find his name
mentioned, so I would guess that he died 1872-1744.

Linda, Mary, etal
I have the notation by John Mattingly, c1690-1744, 2d m Grace Brewer [Prob
not the Mother of any children] with the paren. item lined out. I believe
that Grace was possibly old enough to be the mother of all of his chldren,
but have nothing to support that she was.
I also have John Baptist Mattingly, c1715-1759, son of John Mattingly,
c1690-1744, which would make him of age to marry circa 1735 or later and I
would presume that Richard Brewer, or possibly another brother. would have a
daughtre of marriageable age by that time [1735]. I have also seen a web
site that states that John & Grace had Mark, James, Joseph and Luke, but
nothing to support that statement.
I have John, 1690-1744 with 7 children: John Baptist; Richard, Sr;
Ignatius;
Luke; Joseph; Elizabeth; and Susanna.
I thought it was interesting to note that Elizabeth Greenock's will is
followed immediately by her husband's will in the book at St Marys County.
I guess you might say that's taking a long way around to say that I agree
with Linda.
