It's a transcription error by Jourdan. I examined the original book T:280, on FHL microfilm 0,014,249.

It states:
"Sam BRESHEAR aged Sixty one years being first sworn.....about four or five & twenty years ago that he was [in] Company with Capt. Archbl: EDMONSTON.....& this day askt the afd: EDMONSTON how he came by the [word in margin] of this tree & the afd: EDMONSTON said that his father in law Coll Ninian BEALL showed it to him....."
