John,
John H. Mattingly was the son of Clement Mattingly and his first wife,
Elizabeth M. Wheeler who were married 1/1/1831. The second wife of Clement
Mattingly was Emeline "Emily" Thompson, daughter of Bennet Thompson and
Sarah Knott and the widow of John Hurry whom she'd married 5/23/1820.
Clement and Emeline were married 7/26/1846. I don't know the parents of
Clement Mattingly.
Mary Jane Mattingly, who married John William Raley, was the daughter of
Clement Mattingly and Elizabeth M. Wheeler.
I don't have the parents of Jane M. Drury.
Mary Annette Yates was the daughter of Anthony Matthew Sanders Yates and
Mary Frances Drury; he was the grandson of Martin Yates and Mary Elizabeth
Hayden; and he was the great grandson of William Yates and Mary Raley and of
William Hayden and Monica Aud (parents of Mary Elizabeth Hayden). I don't
have the parents of Mary Frances Drury.
Martha Matilda Mattingly was the daughter of Clement Mattingly and Elizabeth
M. Wheeler.
No record of Mary Alice Raley after 1850.

Wow! You all have posted some great information over the weekend! I do
have some information on the George Thompson (d. 1713) in my files and will
post it as soon as I can have the time to get to my files.
In the interim, I am trying to tie up some loose ends with respect to my
later Thompsons et al. With your patience, I'd like to pose some questions.
Hopefully, someone has the answers without too much trouble.
QUESTION ONE: My great-great-aunt MARTHA E. RALEY (b. July, 1845--daughter
of JOHN B. RALEY (b. 3/21/1804 and d. 11/4/1879 in SMC) and his second wife,
ANN THOMPSON (b. 1810-19 and d. June, 1849). MARTHA E. RALEY married JOHN
H. MATTINGLY on 1/6/1863.
Does anyone know the ancestry (for a couple of generations anyway) of JOHN
H. MATTINGLY?
QUESTION TWO: My great-grandfather JOHN WILLIAM RALEY (b. 1/28/1355 and d.
1912--son of JOHN B. RALEY and ANN THOMPSON) married (1) MARY JANE MATTINGLY
(d. 1863--she was the mother of ZACHARIAH RALEY).
Does anyone know the ancestry (for a couple of generations anyway) of MARY
JANE MATTINGLY?
QUESTION THREE: JOHN B. RALEY (1804-1879) married, as his third wife, JANE
DRURY RADFORD (widow of JOHN FRANCIS RADFORD) on 9/18/1856.
Does anyone know the ancestry (for a couple of generations anyway) of JANE
DRURY RADFORD RALEY?
QUESTION FOUR: THOMAS DAVID RALEY (b. 1/30/1860 and d. 3/13/1950--son of
JOHN B. RALEY and JANE DRURY RADFORD) married (on 12/25/1882) MARY ANNETTE
YATES.
Does anyone know the ancestry (for a couple of generations anyway) of MARY
ANNETTE YATES?
QUESTION FIVE: GEORGE LLOYD RALEY (b. 3/26/1829 and d. 6/20/1895--son of
JOHN B. RALEY and his first wife, MARIA THOMPSON (b. 1804-13 and d. 1832-34)
married (on 2/12/1866) MARTHA MATILDA MATTINGLY.
Does anyone know the ancestry (for a couple of generations anyway) of MARTHA
MATILDA MATTINGLY?
QUESTION SIX: MARY ALICE RALEY was b. 1832--daughter of JOHN B. RALEY and
MARIA THOMPSON. Does anyone know what happened to her?
As always, thanks ahead of time! Probably, all these Mattinglys are related
to one another and, therefore, it won't be too much trouble. Looking
forward to hearing any information about these folks! John Dobricky
