It is my sad duty to inform you that Marcella Dawson died yesterday at her home in Houston, Texas. It was both my honor and privilege to meet and work with this dynamo of a woman who was so intelligent, articulate, and so willing to give of her time to make my dream of making more information available on the history of St. Mary's County to others a reality.

It was Marcella who contacted me a couple of years ago, volunteering to "just do anything you want done." I had no idea what a treasure I'd been given and she had no idea how much work she was actually going to have to do! Without her, much of the information available to researchers through stmarysfamilies.com and this page just wouldn't be there. To make the deal even sweeter, I had the joy of being privy to that wonderful "Texas-style" sense of humor.

She will be sorely missed.
