Hi again again! I had a second in between patients and looked up
"Carberry's Discovery" on the (wonderful) St. Mary's Families website
and found the following information:

In 1715, 190 acres of "Carberry's Discovery" were possessed by John
Baptist Carberry.
In 1735, John Baptist Carberry possessed 190 acres.
In 1735, Francis Hammersly possessed 190 acres (probably the same 190
acres--jointly possessed with John Baptist Carberry (whose daughter,
Mary, he may have married--see below)).
In 1753, Francis Hammersly possessed 190 acres.
In 1760, Mary Hammersly (widow of Francis?--in any event, she was Roman
Catholic) possessed 190 acres.

So, somehow, between 1760 and 1771, Mary Hammersly conveyed at least
part of "Carberry's Discovery" to Cuthbert Thompson. Hmmmmm.......

By the way, the website doesn't list what Hundred of SMC, "Carberry's
Discovery" was in but, given the players involved, I bet it was either
St Clements or Newtown Hundred. Anyway, might be good to also update
the website with the 1771 "Carberry's Discovery" sale information.
Thanks!

I promise I'll be a good boy and sign off now. John Dobricky

While on the subject of Thompsons, does anyone know of CUTHBERT
THOMPSON. In December 1771 he sold a piece of Carberrry's Discovery of
SMC to Malcolm Mc Bean (later bought by my ancestor Ignatius Edwards).
My cousin has a copy of the actual land record; we think the original
record may have been destroyed in the St. Mary's fires as it is not at
the Md Archives. jean edwards
