Judith, Linda, et al

I believe it was about a year or so ago that many of us agreed that Grace
Brewer was very likely the Mother of all of his children. I still believe that,
and that Grace was probably born about 1695 give or take a year or two. I do
not believe now, nor have I ever, that Mark Mattingly was a son of John. I
did not take exception at that time to Linda's conclusion because I had nothing
at that time to oppose it.

I now believe that Mark Mattingly was very likely a brother of John for the
following reasons. Elizabeth [Brewer] Greenock names her brother in law,
John Mattingly as her Executor. If Elizabeth and Grace were sisters, then John
would definitely be her brother-in-law. I now believe that Mark was a
[younger?] brother of John who was also mentioned in Elizabeth Greenock's Will.

I do not believe that Mark was John's descendants because he was not
mentioned in the settlement of John's estate. I think we also have an indication that
three of John's children were not yet of age when he died in 1744 and when
the estate was settled a year or so later. John's son? John Baptist, was named
as Guardian for his brother James, who in my records becomes the 8th child of
John and Grace. Then, Grace {Brewer} Mattingly Johnson is mentioned as
guardian for Joseph and Luke, which to me would indicate that they are also not yet
of age. and born circa 1835 -1837.

Now, I am banking this on the chance that Judith added the word, "Orphans" to
the abstract of the estate administration below in the message I am
answering. It appeared only for Joseph and Luke, in the abstract filed by Paul last
year. Oops, that was Paul Mattingly who posted those abstracts last year.
