Well I have a different idea now on the Leonard Johnson, land on
Pottinger's Creek, 1788 etc..
After reading the info that Linda sent: ( for some reason this did not
appear in my email )
Linda's comments
First Leonard:
I have that Leonard Johnson, born about 1747, who married Mary Mollyhornon January 11, 1774 was the son of John Johnson (d. 1767) and wife, Eleanor.

> Will of John Johnson, SMC, 12/2/1780-1/20/1781. Wife: Catherine, the land

> furniture as long as she remains single. If she marries, all I have given
> her is to be into the hands of my brother, Leonard Johnson and to be kept byhim until my son Thomas Johnson
arrives at the age of 21 and then to be

> Ann Spalding, wife of Richard Spalding and to her sister, Ammony Taylor, theland where Benedict Aprice
now lives at the expiration of seven years for which Benedict Aprice has an indenture.
Mother: Eleanor Johnson, to be given a sufficient support out of my estate during her life. Brother:
> Leonard Johnson, to live on my plantation and find the same number of handsmy wife does and work them
together. They are to divide the crop equally between them at the end of every year until my sons arrive
at the age of 21.
They are to make use of my stock of every kind for each of their family's
> support until my son, Thomas Johnson arrives at age 21 and at that time the
stock is to be equally divided between my sons, Thomas Johnson and Benedict Johnson. If wife Catherine is single when my sons arrive at 21, they are to give her a genteel and plentiful maintenance during her single state of life. Execs.: Wife, Catherine and brother, Leonard Johnson.
Wit:Clement Power, Joseph Johnson, James Davis, Peter Johnson. NOTE: Widow renounced
> will and elected her third. (St. Mary's County, Maryland Wills 1776-1791
by Linda Reno and Joann Humphries)."
I realize I am totally going off the deep end/grasping at straws but.
did the above John, Will 1780, wife Catherine, have also a brother
Peter?. A Peter Johnson is listed as a wittness to the will.
My reason for wondering if.. the above Leonard Johnson was the Leonard
to Ky is... that from the lst time1788 Leonard appears in the Nelson Co.
tiths he is listed with a Peter Johnson.. Just the two of then
together in the early years.. Peter is listed with 50 ac of land on
Pottinger's Cr for the lst time 1804. No record of deed in deed
books. He appears about ever other year (with Leonard) until 1810
when a Henry appears with the 50 ac on Pottinger's Cr. (Peter died and
Henry son ??)
I realize that this throws out a lot of ideas that have been given..
but.. it sure would solve my question of who... was the Peter Johnson
who was just about every year listed with Leonard Johnson in the yearly
tax list of Nelson co. KY. If.. you believe this then Peter was his
brother.. Of course could be a cousin.
However I have not researched the Johnsons in St. Mary's enough to know
anything about this Leonard..
I realize that with the placement of the children of David Johnson,
Langleys etc.. the above seems very off but.. I was just wondering???
As I said this Peter is a real question.
