Here are the SMCGS Programs for the next few months. If you live in the area, please join us at these meetings. We meet at the Garvey Senior Center on the grounds of the St. Mary's County Governmental Complex, MD 245 [Hollywood Road], Leonardtown, MD. We are just a short distance north of the traffic light at the junction of MD 5 [Point Lookout Road] and MD 245. Meetings start at 7:00.

25 October:
"Dig a Grave Both Wide and Deep"
Dr. Tim Riordan of Historic St. Mary's City will talk about 17th century burials. Quite a few burials, including the famous lead coffins, were uncovered during the archaeological research needed for the current reconstruction of the 1667 Roman Catholic Chapel at St. Mary's City. I attended a lecture by him at Historic St. Mary's City on this topic. It was fascinating. You will not want to miss this one.

29 November:
"The Old Home Place"
Teresa Wilson, Historic Preservation Planner, St. Mary's County Dept. of Land Use and Growth Management, will talk about historic preservation and will focus and several old homes in St. Mary's County and the families who lived in them.

13 December:
Pot Luck Dinner and Christmas Social.
We like to eat in St. Mary's County ! Need, I say more ? :o)
