Hi again! From the information I have on the Thompsons (which is now
approaching hundreds of pages), I think that _________ Thompson and
Elizabeth Howard (dau. Of Bennet Howard, etc.) didn't marry until about
1780--making that marriage a little too late to have been the one in
question here. This isn't based on much, though--mainly, Elizabeth
Howard had to have been married to _______ Thompson before her father
wrote his Will circa 1780. However, no grandchildren were mentioned in
Bennet Howard's Will. By the time Elizabeth _______ Howard wrote her
own Will circa 1785, she mentioned two Thompson grandchildren, Matthew
Thompson and Eleanor Thompson. Anyway, for what it's worth, there it
is. John Dobricky

David, I am no Mattingly maven in the longest stretch of the
imagination, however I do have that Luke Mattingly of John of Cezar that
married Eleanor Thompson is the son of John Mattingly d 1745 and Grace
Brewer. I have no record of Eleanor Thompson's parents at present but
maybe someone else can provide proof of her lineage. Another candidate
might be Eleanor d/o Unknown Thompson and Elizabeth Howard who was.named
in the will of her grandmother Elizabeth (Unknown) Howard d 1786 SMCM,
widow of Bennet Howard, d 1785, SMCM.

I have that Eleanor Thompson, b Aug 7, 1757, d/o Robert Thompson &
Elizabeth Ford m/1 Nottingham and m/2 Hall. No first names for grooms.
From Robert Thompson's will you posted 2/9/2002 "I give and bequeath
unto my daughter Eleanor Hall's son William Nottingham, the sum of ten
pounds current money..."

To add fuel to the fire, I have that Ann Thompson d/o Thomas Thompson d.
1779 and Mary Cole married UNKNOWN Mattingly. Isn't that wonderful?
Sorry about that. Mattinglys were invented to keep the mind active, I
think. My 3rd great granddaddy, William C. Mattingly, is still hiding
his parents from me. But I keep looking. Judith
