have John Mattingly who m Jan 7 1809, SMCM Edith Ellis, as the son of
William Mattingly d 1824 and Mary Reeves Cooke, per the will below. Is this

William Mattingly, 9/11/1823- 3/2/1824 (JF #1, fol. 99)
Eldest Son: John Mattingly, the plantation where I now live known as
"Beverly" containing, by patent, 105 acres.
Second Son: Alexander Mattingly, the land I recently bought from the heirs
of John Mills known as "Beverly" containing, by patent, 162 1/2 acres.
Youngest Son: William Mattingly, my land called "Nicholas' Lot" containing,
by patent, 62 1/2 acres during his life and then to his children, John
Mattingly, William Mattingly, and Mary Mattingly. He is to also be paid
$150 at the discretion of my Executor.
Son: Edward Mattingly, a Negro boy named Lewis.
Daughter: Susanna Ellis, one bay horse which was formerly my riding horse.
Daughter: Elizabeth Drury, one sorrel mare.
To: Reverend Thomas Monnelly, $50 which is to be paid to him out of my
personal estate.
Grandson: Edward Mattingly, son of Edward Mattingly, one dark bay colt.
Daughters: Susanna Ellis and Elizabeth Drury, the residue of my estate
divided equally.
Executor: Son, John Mattingly
Witnesses: John Llewellen Briscoe, Henry Alvey, Robert Tippett
