Jerry, we discussed this on the list last week, I think.
You probably picked up that information from Ms. Donnelly. I'm not sure how
she reached that conclusion, but I could never find any proof that Thomas
Medley and wife, Mary (and, incidentally, I find no proof that she was Mary
Fenwick) had any children, more less a daughter named Susanna. His admin.
accts. name only his wife, Mary.
9/23/1764: Admin. accts. of Thomas Medley, SMC. NOK:, Ann Cole and Clement
Medley, Jr. Exec: Wife, Mary.
Incidentally, Thomas Medley's wife may have been Mary Bailey, daughter of
James Bailey who owned "Barren Doe" in 1710 and 1719. After that date,
Thomas Medley owned the property until at least 1760.
I'd really suspected that Susanna, wife of James Gough, was Susanna Wildman,
daughter of Cornelius Wildman. He had a daughter of the right age and since
James and Susanna named a child Cornelius, I was suspicious. It wasn't
until this morning when I got the note from Mike Gough and took a look at
Susanna Tarlton, sister of Jeremiah Tarlton that the bells started ringing.
Both women stated to be born in 1746 and the records in KY, although wrong,
were close, as they indicated that Susanna, wife of James Gough, was a
sister of Eleanor Medley, wife of Jeremiah Tarlton. Instead, as it turns
out, she was her sister-in-law.
Yes, I have Susanna as the daughter of James Tarlton and Ann Wellman. Ann
married second, Richard Forrest.
4/4/1757: Admin. accts. of James Tarlton, SMC. Execs.: John Tarlton, Ann
Tarlton (now wife of Richard Forrest). Margaret Fresco says that this
Richard Forrest was the son of Patrick Forrest and Frances Horn.
Fresco: Richard Forrest, d. 1763, son of Patrick and Frances (Horn) Forrest
m. Ann Tarlton, widow of James Tarlton.
