Randy, this is excellent research. However, I apologize if I missed
something. Doesn't the data infer that Sarah (Tattershall?) Pile is a
sbiling of Mary and William Tattershall. If she isn't a sibling, what
did John Pile mean when he called John Jarboe my "loving brother-in-law?"

Do not allow my lack of understanding detract from what you've written :-)

>First of all – think we all seemingly agree, [per John Pile’s relationship statements found in the Maryland record], that Sarah was likely a Tattershall. [She being a Jarboe is a reach]. But after transcribing a number of land transferal documents retrieved from the Record office in Devon county England we find NO Sarah mentioned in the Tattershall files. John Tattershall of Odstock, [Wiltshire, England], whom is mentioned in his brother William’s will of 1670, SMC, is identified in his father’s last legal English documents in 1633. He was Edmund Tattershall of Brook… see Descendant chart below. We do know this Edmund of Brook had more than one daughter, and only one is named (Frances) in the documents we read. Therefore, Sarah being a Tattershall is still a logical assumption. But that is just too convenient. So, perhaps we should review some data.

In Wiltshire, especially in Salisbury, the Pile surname are in surplus during the 1500-1700s. These Pile are both recusants, but most are documented Anglicans and of means. A search of London and the Middlesex area has not been done. In Wilts, we have found no marriage index that had a John Pile marring a Sarah_______ Understandable as Catholic recusants or non-conformist.

>Benjamin Gill , father of Anna Gill, wife of Captain James Neale, came to Maryland in 1642. This relationship is shown in the following letter, written by Cecil Calvert, Lord Baltimore, to his brother in Maryland, dated 16 Nov. 1642 "Good Brother. Whereas I understand Capt. James Neale married the daughter and heir of Benjamin Gill, and that I did by a warrant bearing date the 16 November 1642 appoint my brother Leonard my then Lieutenant of Maryland to grant unto John Pile and Benjamin Gill certain parcels of land for and in respect of the transportation of themselves and their familys thither,, and that as I am informed the said Gill, nor any other in his right hath yett taken up any of the said land, which you find to be so, I would have you to grant unto the sd.
