Augustine Austin Howard and Patrick Alexander Howard were sons of Joseph E.
Howard and Mariah Elizabeth Pike. Their mother died on 26 Jan 1825. Joseph
E. Howard remarried to Elizabeth Greenwell on 5 Aug 1826 , Nelson County,
KY.
So all the other children were from Elizabeth Greenwell. But here is the
mystery.
James H. Howard who married Mary Emma Bowling, she apparently died before
1870.

But on 1880 Census we have a Harriet Howard age 65 white living in household
of James Howard son of Joseph E. Howard and Elizabeth Greenwell

Who is this Harriett Howard from Virginia? Mary Emma Bowling was the
daughter of William Bowling and Eleanor Julia Johnson (Daughter of John
Johnson and Dorothy Miles.


Either we have a Johnson/Howard marriage or a Miles/ Howard marriage, or a
Bowling/Howard marriage someplace. This Harriett Howard was born about 1815.
So where in Virginia did she come from? Who is she?


I only have two children currently of William Bowling and Eleanor Julia
Johnson. Mary Emma Bowling and Cecelia Bowling who married John Howard also
a son of Joseph E. Howard and Elizabeth Greenwell.

John Howard of Howardstown in Nelson Co., died at his home on
Tuesday of heart disease. Was 68 years old. His wife died last Sep-
tember. Was a brother to Austin Howard of Howardstown. He was
the father of 4 boys and 6 girls, all survive him.

John howard married Cecelia Bowling daughter of William Bowling and Eleanor
Julia Johnson. he married her about 1861.
