The "make-up" reel of microfilm contains the scattered issues from the
1850's into the 1880's that were missing when the first microfilming of the
"St. Mary's Beacon" was done. When I worked on the Indexing Project for the
"Beacon" [1991-1994], we had microfilm from the Lexington Park Branch, St.
Mary's County Memorial Library to work from. I believe the St. Mary's County
Historical Society has the same films as do a number of larger libraries in
the state.
MANY issues are missing; entire months; in the 1850's a couple of YEARS are
missing. We could Index only what existed.
The printed Index volumes marked the issues that were on the one "make-up"
reel. If the info is in the Index and the citation isn't marked w/ the
"make-up" reel symbol, the citation would be found in the regular run of
microfilms.

microfilm. I was told there is a "make up roll" that contains several of
the "missing" issues.

you could tell me if it contains the Julyy 7 1887 edition. I would like
information on the Marriage Licenses that was issued to Josias Cutch and
Maria Carter.
