OK, I actually went upstairs !!!! Laundry, Christmas decorations, etc .... I
had to eat, too :o)
Anyway, I got the 1994 edition of the National Register of Historic Places &
brought it down. This MIGHT BE the last listed printed in book form. You can
get the current listing on-line.
The 1994 book lists:
#41 - St. Andrew's [listed 1973]
#38 - St. Francis Xavier [1972]
#40 - St. George's [Poplar Hill] [1973]
#39 - St. Ignatius [1975]
Included in St. Mary's City Historic District NHL [1969] is Trinity
Episcopal Church, St. Mary's Parish, St. Mary's City. This church is listed
on the National Register but as a part of a larger district. The current
church is 19th century, so too late for Rose's book.
#42 - Christ Church, Chaptico was added to the Register ca. 1996; # 43 - All
Faith about 2002 or 2003.
Thus all the St. Mary's churches listed in the book are also listed on the
National Register. The only additional church in St. Mary's on the Register
but not in the colonial church book is Trinity w/in the St. Mary's City
Historic District.
The Roman Catholic churches listed are in the Archdiocese of Washington
[Roman Catholic Church].
