Since we are discussing Cissell's. I would like to find more proof if Catherine Flanagan widow of Henry Johnson, remarried 2nd to Mathew Cissell Sr.





Also would like to find out who siblings and parents of Catherine Flanagan were.



I do not know parents or siblings of Catherine Flanagan wish I could find more details.





I know that Felix Benedict Johnson listed below was a son of Henry Johnson and Catherine Flanagan.



There is a web page by Melissa Alexander Thompson who claimed that Mathew Cissell Sr. who 1st married Sarah Howard, was the one who married 2nd to Catherine Flanagan (johnson) widow of Henry Johnson





Sarah Howard was the daughter of John Baptist Howard and Elizabeth Johnson.



Elizabeth Johnson had a brother Henry Johnson, but we don't know if this Henry Johnson who married Catherine Flanagan was her brother, he could be a son of a brother.



I can tell you that Mathew Cissell Sr. could not have married more than twice. I can agree that he married Sarah Howard 1st, and it looks like he married 2nd to Catherine Flanagan.





If they married it was not in Washington or Nelson County, KY, it would have been in Marion County, KY probably in Holy Cross Church.

He had a son Mathew Cissell born abt 1811 who married Angeline M. Hagan on 3 Oct 1835 in I believe Nelson or Washington County, KY. I don't have the location of their marriage. If you do please share it.

I don't have the Appraised items but it is Felix Benedict Johnson son of Henry Johnson and Catherine Flanagan.


4. Washington Co., KY Will Book G, page 137 Henry Johnson, Adm/sett - 28 Jan
1839



Adm: Felix B. Johnson allowed 1/3 for dower of Nancy Flanagan & 1/3 as dower of Catherine Cissell, late Johnson (who is Nancy Flanagan). Isn't Feliz B. Johnson the son of Catherine Flannagan and Henry Johnson.



Nancy Flanagan must be a sister to Catherine Flanagan. Yes Felix Benedict Johnson is the son of Catherine Flanagan and Henry Johnson

this web site has the marriages backwards. Mathew Cissell married Sarah Howard 1st, then he married Catherine Flanagan maybe 2nd.



Catherine Flanagan married Henry Johnson on 01 Sep 1806 Washington County, KY.



Mathew Cissell married Sarah Howard on 11 Mar 1795 Washington, County, Ky. Sarah Howard died abt 1837 , Marion, Kentucky

Buried at St. Charles Cemetery, , Marion, Kentucky. Mathew Cissell Sr. died 23 Jan 1846 , Marion, Kentucky and is also buried St. Charles Cemetery, , Marion, Kentucky



So if Mathew Cissell Sr. did marry 2nd to Catherine Flanagan widow of Henry Johnson, then he did so after his 1st wife Sarah Howard died.



So question is did he marry Catherine Flanagan in Marion County, KY and if so was it in the Holy Cross Catholic Church? Because there isn't any such marriage in Washington or Nelson County, KY.





There was a web site that was also claiming that the same Mathew Cissell married a third time to Angeline Hagan, but this Mathew Cissell, was the son of the older Mathew Cissell.









There apparently is another person Claiming on Ancestry Family Trees that Mathew Cissell married three times, but the third marriage is the son and his wife.



I will have to correct Melissa Alexander Thompson on her order of Marriages.

Yes, he is also related but can't say who his parents are, his Daughter Priscilla Christina Johnson is the mother of Thomas Hardin Johnson and Martha Ann Essex, whose children associate with and even marry into grandchildren of Leonard Johnson who married Mary Mollihorn.
