Subject: [MDSTMARY] SMCGS "Generator" Question

Just a question to those of you who are members of SMCGS.
When did you receive the original copy of the Fall 2006 "Generator" ?
When did you receive the "corrected copy" of the Fall 2006 "Generator" ?
I'd like to have some idea on the delivery schedule.

The first copy was mailed on Tuesday, 19 September at the Leonardtown post
office. As on Saturday, 30 September is has still NOT been delivered to me
in Hollywood, MD.

The corrected copy was mailed on Tuesday, 26 September at the Leonardtown
post office. Those of us attending the Monday evening 25 September meeting
received the corrected copy at the meeting, so I will not be receiving a
copy in the mail.

I would just like to have an idea on delivery time to various parts of the
country. It's nearly 2 weeks and I haven't received my first "Generator"
here in Hollywood.

Thanks for whatever information you can send me on this question.

David

Subject: [MDSTMARY] "Generator" Error

> Those members of SMCGS on this list need to be alerted to the fact that
the Fall "Generator" was printed incorrectly. It was mailed on Tuesday 9/19
at the Leonardtown post-office. I got a phone call on Thursday 9/21 from a
member living in Leonardtown who said that she was "missing a page."
Actually, she was not missing a page. The printer had neglected to print TWO
pages, so the back of p. 13 was p. 16. TWO full pages were missing from the
"Generator."
>
> Page 13 started w/ Mary Ann Shoemaker's article on Holy Cross R. C. Church
in Marion County, Kentucky. That article was to finish up on p. 14.
>
> As it was, all of p. 14 - the end of Mary Ann's article, a short piece of
slaves on the 1860 census [copied from a RootsWeb posting] and the begining
of Mary Beth Abordo's article on her ancestor who was a prisoner at Point
Lookout during the Civil War - all of that was NOT printed.
>
> All of p. 15 was NOT printed .... more on Mary Beth's Confederate Kentucky
ancestor; p. 16 was then printed on the back of page 13.
>
> The lady who called to say she was missing a page, said "I'm confused. I'm
reading about Holy Cross Church in Kentucky & then I'm reading about Point
Lookout." No wonder she was condused !!!!
>
> The printer re-printed the entire "Generator" for no cost, but SMCGS had
to pay the Post Office for a second bulk mailing.
>
> I worked w/ the team who mails the "Generator" yesterday morning. Each
second mailing has a label reading "Corrected Copy" on the front.
>
> Loranna Gray gave out the "corrected copy" version to all those at the
September meeting on Monday 9/25. At that time, no one living outside of
Leonardtown had yet received their copy of the "Generator." As of Tuesday,
9/26 my "Generator" still has not made the 5 miles from Leonardtown to
Hollywood !!! Ever since the Bulk Mailing Office in Waldorf was shut down,
all our bulk mailings from St. Mary's County go up to some larger facility
off the Beltway. It has added about a week to the delivery time.
>
> So, when you get your first copy, read it. When you get the 2nd copy,
finish Mary Ann's article & start Mary Beth's !!!
> Keep the 2nd copy & toss the first.
>
> Sorry about this mess. Sorry especially to Mary Ann and Mary Beth .... it
was your 2 articles which were messed up.
