Yeh, St Mary's county has that small town appeal. My father was born in St
Mary's county. He moved to Baltimore, but visited every weekend. When My
Brothers and I used to go down to the County, our mother used to counsel us
not to date any girls in the county, they were probably our cousins. We used
to laugh and laugh at that. Now when I start doing Genealogy I find out that
she was right. The laugh is on us. Our Grandparents were 2nd cousins.

David,

Glad to see Larry is a [R]... Cool Stuff....in SMC
Kind of has that small town appeal.

This type thing happens often in my home town as well.
Everyone has a connection to one another. In some form.

I'm of a place called St. Paul, Neosho County Ks, aka Ossage Mission.
Which has a population that's around 1,000 catholic souls.
It's a place where high school kids have to go out of state to date. For all
town's inhabitants are related (cousins), and the rest of the county is
Protestant. (for then in the 1970s mix company was frowned on and likely a
yelling event). This may seem bizzar but you have to understand, my mom's a
Jarboe, and in Kansas they have almost as many kin folks as the Mattinglys
of Louisville, KY.

None the less, St.Paul is small little town with a big heritage. For you
see, most of the citizens can trace their lineage to central
Kentucky........... And their ancestry to St. Mary's County, MD.

Guess that means St Paul high schoolers can't date Kentuckian or Marylanders
either...

Modern day Jarboe Trivia
Larry Jarboe [R] won another term on the St. Mary's County Board of County
Commissioners in last Tuesday's election. He represents upper St. Mary's
County [5th, 4th, & 7th Districts]. He defeated a guy I taught WAY BACK in
1965-66, my very first year teaching - Joe/Tony St. Clair [D].

Randy:
Thanks for the story of Walter Jarboe & the grizzly bears.
