My GGG Grandfather is Stephen Jones, a Revolutionary War Veteran who was
supposedly born in St. Mary's County on August 19th, 1750. The family I
have him connected to had 10 children and they were all born in Virginia
or North Carolina except Stephen.

I have not tried to do much research here because I was told that the
court house was burned down during the Civil war and all the previous
records were lost. Can someone confirm that all of the records prior to
the Civil War were destroyed?

If any of the Jones families in this area have a record of Stephen I
would greatly appreciate hearing from you.
