Subject: [MDSTMARY] John Leigh and Rebecca Greenwell Relationship
Date: Mon, 26 Feb 2007 16:47:19 EST
John Leigh and Rebecca Greenwell cooperated in 1824 to
obtain land in Adams County Ohio that had been granted
earlier to a Lt. John Leigh who fought (3 years as a
sergeant and three years as a lieutenant) for Virginia
against the British.
One legal document from John and Rebecca was witnessed
in Charles County Maryland. (They were preparing to
sell some of the Ohio land)
On line, I see John Leigh and Phillip Greenwell being
codefendants in a lawsuit in St Mary's County. I
also think that one Phillip Greenwell had a wife named
Rebecca
Could anyone think of an explanation to the joint
inheritance between John and Rebecca?
I had wondered if the widow of Lt John Leigh had
perhaps married a Greenwell.
Bill
