Attention Gary E. Young, Washington, D.C.
Gary, I am sorry that I do not have anything on the John Smith who died
about 1735.
However, I do have some questions, do you have a date of death for Baker
Brooke in 1679 as I had
found 1678 from another source. I would like to put a definite date to his
death, as he is my relative too.
I am truly interested in "HapHazard". I assume this was an estate but it is
the first time I have heard about it.
What do you know about Haphazard?
I am related to the Benjaminus Young, a Judge from Washington, D.C b 1689
married Ann Rozier. Would like to chat and share with you regarding our
Young Families. You can write me directly if you like. I have pictures of
Benjaminus Young and his wife too.
You mentioned:
In the 1753 Rent Roll "Haphazard" is shown in the possession of John Smith
Jr. Who was he?
>From what you said, it seems to me that John Smith Jr. would have been his
son-in-law.
Thanks in advance for anything that you might want to share.

Baker Brooke in his 1679 will devised "Haphazard" to his son Leonard Brooke.
Leonard died in 1718 and by his will (dated 1716) devised "Haphazard" to
his daughter Jane. Jane Brooke is believed to have married John Smith (son
of
John and Dorothy Brooke Smith). John Smith wrote his will in 1735. Wife
Jean/Jane is named so it appears this identification is probably correct.
Only two children are named: Benjamin and Leonard (said to have been born 24
June 1732). Presumably this was a fairly young couple with only two very
young children. Did Jane remarry? To whom? And what became of Haphazard?
In the 1753 Rent Roll "Haphazard" is shown in the possession of John Smith
Jr. Who was he?
Thanks,
Gary E Young
