Hi Linda,

You are right about Gertrude Ford, she was not married to Robert Goldsborough. It was her sister Mabel K. Ford that was married to Robert and lived in Baltimore with her other sister, Lillie I. and her husband Louis F. Sunderland.

Thanks again,
Rick Worch

Good morning,

According to my files, John A. Ford was the son of John T. Ford and Rebecca
Clocker. This is based on 1880 census data when Sarah Rebecca Ford was
listed as the aunt of Pembroke Smith.

John A. Ford married Mary B. Bean just before the 1850 census. I have not
been able to locate a marriage record in St. Mary's, Baltimore, or
Washington. Mary B. Bean was the daughter of Bennet J. Bean and Mary P.
Weatherington who were married in St. Mary's County, December 20, 1825.
Bennet J. Bean died bet. 1831-1833 and Mary P. Weatherington married second,
Ignatius Clarke, October 21, 1833.

2/1838: Ignatius Clarke, guardian to M. B. Bean, orphan of Bennet Bean,
appears in court under a citation to show his annual account of sd. minor's
income and expenses and prays to be discharged therefrom and alleging that
the income of sd. minor does not exceed $50. The court discharged Clarke
from providing an annual account. (Proceedings of the Orphan's Court of
SMC, 7/12/1836-3/12/1845 by Wanda Schuhart).

The husband of Mary R. Ford was Pembroke Smith (as stated above).

John A. Ford was deceased prior to October 13, 1881:

v19:9, p4, c2 13 October 1881 Dead and Removed [First District] Notice.
Voter Registration; Benville, Lawrence; Ford, John A.; Gough, James H.
(Index, St. Mary's Beacon).

We have a conflict in the record of Gertrude Ford. According to "Marriages
and Deaths, St. Mary's County, Maryland, 1634-1900" by Margaret Fresco,
"Gertrude, daughter of the late John A. Ford of St. Inigoes district, died
(no date). She cites as her source the St. Mary's Beacon, 10/11/1883.

You say Gertrude Ford married Robert Goldsborough, had issue, etc. A very
real problem.

As far as the other children, we agree. You have much more in terms of
their descendants.

Linda Reno
