Doris it would help if you could give some dates. Here is what I can
remember
1. Grace Greenwell married Michael Raley Jr, he died 1738, St Marys Co Md,
leaving a will naming his wife Grace and a young son Joseph who is to be
sent or "put" to school at the age of 8 for a period of 5 yrs......
2. Grace is listed in the files found at the Md State Archives and these
images that I refer to can be found online at www.msa,md.gov
then go to megafile/msa/....
GRACE RALEY, listed as Executrix in INVENTORIES 1738 St Mary's LIBER 24,
folio 50. online it is image 00183
3.GRACE Raley, Executrix 1740, St Mary's Liber 17, folio 529
4. Grace married again this time to George Thompson, his 2nd marriage, he
being the son of Robert Thompson and Mary French. The marriage References
for Grace are given by "Reno" on the St. Marys Co Md site on Rootsweb, under

marriages.
5. Grace was the daughter of JAMES GREENWELL and GRACE TAYLOR
7. I did bring back from St Marys Co Md photocopies of several GREENWELL
Wills which I have not yet transcribed.

6. There is a biography of John T Ballard which was in
"Kentucky A History of the State" Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed.,
1887.
States John T Ballard of Shelbyville, ky was born in OLDHAM Co Ky son of
Camden M Ballard and Lavina H Railey. Natives of Virginia. His Maternal
Grandfather Joseph Raile came to Oldhame Co , about 1791. The father
Camden M Ballard was born in 1800 and came from Spotsylvania Co Virginia to
Oldham Co Ky in 1820 and was sheriff in 1837, 1838, and was sheriff of Henry

Co Ky in 1840 and 41, State Senator from Oldham Henry and Trimble from 1841
to 1851 and died Mar 3 1853.
This bio is at www.rootsweb.com
Ky genweb/ Ky Biographies Ballard
7. There is a will for this Joseph Raley, that I obtained from Oldham Co Ky
if anyone one NEEDS this info, I can transcribe it, which I have not done
because I determined it was not part of the direct Raley line I needed.
Leslie Walton
of Missouri
Grace then married
