I may still have need to correct some mistakes in my data base, so welcome
corrections.

Dottie,

Where does the idea come from that Charity ? who later marries William
MORGAN was Charity SHERCLIFFE?

1) MARY "POLLY" HAYDEN, #1W, 16-24-23,4 1760 in St. Mary Co. Md5, daughter
of GEORGE HAYDEN and CHARITY SHEIRCLIFF.

I have a George HAYDEN in my data Base with wife Charity ?

I have this George HAYDEN married 1st to Ann MATTINGLY, 2nd to Charity ?,
and Third to Grace BREWER.

What evidence is there that Charity ? is Charity SHERCLIFFE?

Here are my notes from Linda Reno on this:

Not sure where the death date of July 10, 1754 came from for George Hayden,
but he was deceased by May 9, 1754.

Admin. accounts of Mr. George Hayden 5/9/1754 and 6/5/1754; appraisers were
Joshua Millard and Thomas Hobson; next of kin was Clement and James Hayden;
Exec., Charity Hayden (Skinner).

The first wife of George Hayden may very well have been Ann Mattingly,
daughter of John Mattingly (d. 1744) and his first, unknown wife, His second
wife was Grace Brewer.

6/21/1745: Admin. accts. of John Mattingly, SMC. Sureties: John Mattingly,
George Hayden. Received from: John Poore. Payments to: Anne Haden,
Matthew Herbert, Mr. Philip Key, John Chesher, Edward Mattingly, James
Thompson. Distribution to: accountant, 1/3. Residue to (orphans): John,
Ignatius, Richard, Luke, Joseph, Elizabeth, and Susanna Mattingly. Adm:
Grace Johnson, wife of Peter Johnson.

Frances Hayden was the daughter of George Hayden and second wife, Charity.
Francis is the male spelling of that name.

Charity is my ancestress via her second marriage to William Morgan, but I'm
a Hayden descendant too via Richard Hayden, brother of George Hayden.

Will of Charity Morgan, SMC, 9/15/1791-10/3/1791. Son: Ignatius Morgan, my
feather bed and furniture; one pair of blankets; one pair of sheets; one
quilt; a horse named Stretcher; a mare named Jewel; and the hogs he now has
in his possession. Son: Wilfred Morgan, one cow and yearling and a looking
glass. Son: Raphael Morgan, the feather bed he has in his possession;
hogs; and one case. Son: George Hayden, one cow and calf; one bed and
furniture for the use of James Hayden, likewise one iron pot, hooks and rack
for the use of his son, William Hayden. Daughter: Frances Hayden, one bed
and furniture; a horse named Snip; my side saddle and bridle; one cow and
yearling; and three hogs now in the pen. Son: James Morgan, two steers
about five years old. Children: William, Ignatius, Raphael and Joseph
Morgan and Frances Hayden, the remainder of my goods and chattles, equally
divided. Exec: Son, George Hayden. Wit: Joseph Walker, Jr. and Ann Field.
(St. Mary's County, Maryland Wills, 1776-1791 by Linda Reno and Joann
Humphries).

Mildred Miletta Hilton? Could she have been Mildred Hays? Note to me from
Judith Burger: There is a William Hayden m. Mildred Hayes 25 Jan1790
(bond), Nelson Co.

Linda Reno
