With all the discussion of Mattingly I have to ask if any one has
anything on the parents of Philip Mattingly and Eleanor Mattingly
Spalding, wife of Aaron Spalding (1752-1825) all died in
Nelson/Washington, KY.
"Genealogical History of our Ancestors", Vol II, 1977, Rutherford. p 634
gives Philip Mattingly, Sr. d 1803 as the father of Eleanor Mattingly
who married Aaron Spalding.

I have found no clue in Nelson or Washington early records to support
such. However Philip Sr may not have been on the tax/tithable lists due
to age.

Philip "Jr." died Nelson Co 1821/22 and named the children of Eleanor
Mattingly Spalding in his will stated as my niece and nephew.
A Philip Mattingly lst on tithables in 1787, on thru 1800, 1810 over
45, 1820 over 45, Thus born bef 1765.

However as his sister Eleanor is placed as b @ 1765 this "probably" is
the Philip d 1821/22

Appreciate any comments, suggestions.
