Agree.

My note to the list, 2/21/2005:

I believe that I picked up Ann's maiden name as Wheatley in an old issue of
"The Generator" (published by the St. Mary's Co. Genealogy Society). I
couldn't swear she was a Wheatley, but I don't think she was a Jenkins.

Two of the witnesses to her will were Joseph Jenkins and John Jenkins.
These guys were the sons of Joseph Jenkins (d. 1774) and his wife, Mary
(widow of William Combs). Both Joseph and Mary Jenkins died leaving wills
and neither mentioned a daughter named Ann Norris or any grandchildren that
would tie in to the children of John Norris and Ann (Wheatley).

John Wheatley, Jr. (married first Winifred Horn) and his second wife,
Elizabeth Nottingham did have a daughter named Ann of the right age to have
been the wife of John Norris, Jr., but I don't see anything under my notes
that proves she was a Wheatley either.

Another mystery!

Would these be the wills you are referring to?

I also show Ann as a Wheatley, daughter of John Wheatley and Elizabeth
Nottingham, but sure couldn't prove it.

I got the Ann Norris will from John Wilkinson so it really needs to be
checked - and if I am counting right - I think I count an extra kid in it.

Don Drury put together a bit of a discussion on this family some time
ago - it can be found at -
http://files.usgwarchives.org/md/stmarys/history/family/wheatly.txt

I don't know if his thoughts on it have changed any.

Cheers,

Jackie
