In 1850 census are 3 Benedict Clarke in age range you are discussing. one in
Breckinridge Co. b. 1805 in KY, one in Nelson Co. b. 1797 in KY, one in
Marion Co. b. 1818 in KY.
The one in Nelson Co. m. Rebecca Roby 15 Oct 1814, and appears to be s/o
James G. Clarke & Rachael Hagan.
The one in Marion Co. is living about half way between Joseph Clarke b. 1793
and James H. Clarke b. 1793. He could be the s/o either or neither.
In Breckinridge Co. most spell their name Clark but there is a smaller group
living near each other that use Clarke.
Benedict Clarke b. 1805 lives a few houses from Charles Clarke b. 1780 in VA
& Elizabeth b. 1792 in KY. These appear to be his parents.Living nearby are
Elisha Clarke b. 1808 and Cleveland Clarke b. 1813 I would assume are also
s/o Charles.
There are several younger Clarkes in the area including Jesse Clarke b.
1826, wife Jincy & children.
The Henry Clark that married Nannie Cundiff 12 Oct 1899, Meade Co.,KY in
1900 census have ages that don't add up. Henry shows 49 b. Aug 1860 (should
be 1850?), Nannie 22 b. May 1888 (should be 1878?) married 2 years. A
daughter Palestine 4 b. Sep 1895.
In the 1910 census he is 55 Nancy is 48 Palestine 13, Clarence 7, Abbie J.
5., Lizzie 4 & Taft 1, They have been married 7 years, and she has 5
children 5 living.
Does this mean they had children together before marriage? All these years
don't compute but the child Palestine indicates it is the same family.
Very confusing.
