Dear Jack,
My 3rd g-grandmother was Frances Ann Barcus, daughter of John Barcus &
Frances Ann Pratt. John's will was filed in Caroline Co. and was the initial source
I had for the names of his children.
His youngest child, Frances Ann Barcus, was my g.g.g.grandmother. She
married 1: James Parker Carter in Cecil Co., MD, and married 2: William H. Hubbard
in Caroline Co.
Here is a list of all of Frances Ann's siblings -- full & half.
John Barcus & an unknown (to me!) first wife had the following children:
Anna, married unknown Caggs.
Ebenezer.
Elizabeth, married John Clark.
John.
Maria.
Mary O., married John O. Harnet.
Nancy, married Samuel Gelin.
Rebecca.
Sarah, married William Emory.
Sewel/Sewell, married Nancy Strong.
John Barcus and Frances Ann Pratt had the following children:
Ethelinda, b. Jan 24, 1815, married John E. Starkey.
Eleanor I., b. Dec. 27, 1816, married William I. Seward.
John Charles Montgomery, b. Oct. 23, 1818, married Mary Barkhurst
(related?)
William, b. Jan 10, 1820, married Eliza Turner.
Frances Ann, b. Feb. 14, 1822, marriages listed above.
(Wonder why he named two sons John when they both appear to have lived to
adulthood?)
Jack, are any of these folks the Barcus family members who married into your
family? Or maybe their ancestors?

P.S. You didn't grow up in Milford, DE, did you?
