Michael,

Saw your question on the Washington County site. There were quite a few
papers serving this area in the time frame you mention. They have been
indexed and are available at the local library. MD archives has a complete
listing and many on microfilm. The Torch Light was one, another was the
"People's Own Newspaper." An earlier one was "The Washington Spy." You
mentioned the Mail, there was also "The Morning Herald" and the Hagerstown
Evening Globe. Some smaller county towns had weekly newspapers, also.
