Thom,
Thanks for your response. Your information makes me wonder if ENOCH PRESTON
was a son of PETER PRESTON. ENOCH would have been 44 in 1850 and was living
in Washington County OHIO. You mentioned that there was an "Enoch Clyce" -
age 10 living in Peter's home - was "Clyce" his surname or was it his
middle name? I do have some info on PETER PRESTON - it is a bond - I guess
it was set up when he became a constable of Allegany County, MD. Is it
possible that Peter is mentioned in a history of the county, as a result of
being a constable? It would be great if that was so and it listed his
children's names! ( I don't have the bond info in front of me so don't
recall the exact date on that.) Anyway, I am just speculating who is
related to who (or is that "whom"?). I do appreciate your help. I wish I
had better access to each of the census's of Allegany County, MD. How close
is Washington County, MD? Was it part of Allegany County? Sorry about all
of the questions.
Please let me know if you find any Preston's,
Vera

You are aware that the area contains Meshack and Shadrach Preston, as well
as a Peter Preston. I notice oddly enough that in Peter Preston's household
in 1850 there was an Enoch Clyce age 10. Peter was age 70, his wife Sarah
age 68 and their two sons Joseph 30 and John 27 were living with them.
Will keep my eyes open for an Enoch Preston.
