I have a bit to add to Roger's information:

Joel was the son of Samuel Newcomer and Betsy (Elizabeth) Funk. After
Samuel died Betsy married her brother-in-law Joel Newcomer.

FIRST GENERATION

1. Joel NEWCOMER was born about 1806 in MD. In the 1850 Census 1st Dist:
Joel Newcomer, ag 44 a Miller with Sarah age 35, Ann M. age 16, Oliver age
11, M Uilla age 8 and Sarah age 2

He was married to Sarah (Sallie) ADAMS on January 22, 1833 in Washington
Co. MD. Sarah (Sallie) ADAMS was born about 1815 in MD. Joel NEWCOMER and
Sarah (Sallie) ADAMS had the following children:

2i.Anna Maria NEWCOMER was born about 1834 in MD.
3ii.John Grafton NEWCOMER was born on September 22, 1836. He died on
August 29, 1837. He was buried in Beaver Creek Brethern Cemetery,
Washington Co., MD. buried in a plot with several other NEWCOMER infants,
including children of Isaac and Elizabeth Newcomer and John & Elizabeth
NEWCOMER
4iii.Oliver NEWCOMER was born about 1839 in MD.
5iv.Emorilla NEWCOMER was born about 1842 in MD.
6v.Sarah NEWCOMER was born about 1848 in MD.
7vi.Kate NEWCOMER.
