Subject: [MDWASHIN-L] Grove Family From Scotland - Brick wall cracking.

I would like to know if there is anyone who knows of any Grove(s) family from
Scotland that lived in Washington Co. around 1854.

For many years now I have been searching for the parents of Elias Augustus
Grove 1828 - 1870. His marriage license 1854 states he was from Sharpsburg,
Washington Co., MD
Silly me, I assumed this meant he was born there. With the Hans
Graf(f)/Groff/Grove family being from Washington Co. I have spent much effort
studying their lineage looking for a connection. Last week I finally found my
great grandfather George Grove b 1861(5)-1926 in the 1900 census. I've had
such a hard time because he wasn't George Grove he was Elias A. Grove. He
must have changed his name and possibly his date of birth.
George's (Elias) brother William was living in his household and they both
gave their father's birthplace as Scotland.

If anyone can give me any leads it would be greatly appreciated.
