Rowland,
If you have something that reads Blairs Valley, Washington, MD, the
Washington probably means Washington County, which is where Blairs Valley is
located.

The land that is now Washington, D.C. was once part of Maryland, but it was
set aside as a federal district when it was made the nation's capital in
George Washington's day.
