I have Wissinger/Weissinger's that settled in the area in the 1740's. They arrived from Germany via Philadelphia, settling near Middletown, Frederick Co. In 1750, Johann Wissinger and his friends built a crude log structure for their church. This building was used by the Lutheran and Reformed Congregations until 1783 when the group disbanded. In 1771, the Lutherans purchased an acre of land from Conrad Crone and in 1773, they built a sexangular log structure for their church. This building was used until 1814 at which time they built a brick structure replacing it in 1859 with a larger brick structure, which is still standing, and in use today. This building was also used by the government as a lookout and hospital during the Civil War. A few records of this family have been found at the Lutheran Congregation of Zion Church in Middletown

Not sure if this is any help or not, but I wanted to try.

Can someone familiar with Frederick/Washington Co. MD early history
tell me when GERMAN Settlers began moving into that area?I'm
searching for the Kisinger(kissinger, keissinger) Family in the late
1700's. They were possibly German Reformed. Thank you. Shirley
