Thanks so much for responding.The following facts are what I have:

1910 Census shows him 50 yrs old -- born 1860
1900 Census shows born 1865
1880 Census shows him 25 years old -- born 1856
Marriage license dated 1890 shows him 25 yrs old--born in 1865
Death Certificate shows birth date as Dec 10, 1856

This is all I have. Since I don't know his mother's name, I don't have any
info about her. Edward Gouker married Clara Holland on September 10, 1890
in Ogle County, IL. Clara was born in 1872.

The only other clue I have is Edward's death certificate shows his name as
Edward George Gouker. His gravestone shows Edward P. Gouker. I don't know
which is correct. Not much to go on, is it?

believe she must have died or his parents were divorced when he was very
young. The 1880 census shows Edward Gouker in Ogle County, IL at 25 years
of age. He died in Ogle County, IL in 1926.
