Teresa, my wife and I did it all in one full week day. Find parking at the
longer 2 hour meters. On the west side you enter through metal screeners. Go
left and up to the front northwest corner. Ask for the orphan court records
and say you are looking for "your" family. It is in a vault and it is all
clearly marked. They will make copies if you are nice. The orphans court
summary references all the other book. The bad news is all the old records
were required by the State Big Government to be sent to the state for
filing. Now the state cut the budget and us old folks are left in the dark.

Subject: [MDWASHIN] General Question...

I am planning a trip to Washington County with the sole purpose of searching
the court house records (all of them). Can anyone guestimate the amount of
time I will need to sort through it all?

Also, is it the goal for ALL of the court house records to be indexed and/or
sent to the geneolaogy center?

I am just wondering if at some point in time all of that valuable info will
be available on line.

Also...I just recieved a catolog of books for sale. There must be dozens
that apply to Washington County. I know they are not at the genealogy
center. Has anyone ever found a place to access all of these books without
purchasing them?

I understand my FARROW family was in MD during colonial times. I am hoping
to break my 1802 brick wall.

Thank you.
