For both John & Richard: The book she mentions didn't show up but its
called: Abstract of Wills 1777-1805 Washington County, Md. Vol. MD21 By:
Hageness, Marlee Beatty 1942. The e mail address for the hagerstown library
is the last one listed DON'T go beyond wcfl/ the rest is not part of the
address, ALSO forget the Google part. The LDS (Mormans) looked good too. She
said the book is not on the web, but I could look into it at The Pratt
Library sometime. Let me know how you guys come out on this.
Gordon

I am looking for wills and estate distributions for the period of 1779-1835

> MD PrinceGeorges Librarian jk: Gordon Crooks, welcome to Maryland
AskUsNow! I'm looking at your question right now; it will be just a moment.
>
> MD PrinceGeorges Librarian jk: Let me see if I can find any web source
for the info you need.
>
> Gordon Crooks: ok
>
> MD PrinceGeorges Librarian jk: So far, I've looked at Washington County
in the rootsweb.com archives. These are sources posted by volunteers. There
are individual wills, but not whole will books.
>
> MD PrinceGeorges Librarian jk: I'll try something else.
>
> MD PrinceGeorges Librarian jk: I've found who has a book with exactly
what you need, but so far it's not been digitized.

posted in the Washington County archive on rootsweb, no.

zsearch page.

> Gordon Crooks: Thats ok no hits anyhow on it.
>
> Gordon Crooks: The first thing you sent me abstract of wills thats a book
isn't it?
>
> MD PrinceGeorges Librarian jk: Yes, it is a book that doesn't seem to
have been digitized for web posting yet.
>
> Gordon Crooks: I wonder if the Pratt in balto. has a copy I could assess
that
>
> MD PrinceGeorges Librarian jk: It may be that book sources are the best
bet for this specific question.
>
> Gordon Crooks: Are washington County records just lousy or is it my
imagenation
>
> MD PrinceGeorges Librarian jk: Well, they're probably about average, I
guess.
>
> Gordon Crooks: Would Md. Archives have this type of info for Wash. Co.?
>
> MD PrinceGeorges Librarian jk: It is possible that Pratt has the books on
Washinton County Estate Distribution, etc. that are cited in the LDS Library
holdings, and even more probable that Hagerstown Public Library has them.
>
> MD PrinceGeorges Librarian jk: Maryland Archives is the place where the
original records are stored, so yes they do.
>
> Gordon Crooks: Now were getting somewhere what is e mail address for
Hagerstown Library?
>
> MD PrinceGeorges Librarian jk: I'll get that
>
> MD PrinceGeorges Librarian jk:

> Gordon Crooks: vert good download for me please end
>
> [Gordon Crooks - has disconnected]
>
> MD PrinceGeorges Librarian jk: They do have the book by Morrow in the LDS
listing called Distribution of Estate Accounts, and another by Morrow which
indexes probate records, so I'm sure they can look some things up for you
and send you copies.
