In the "Records of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hagerstown,
Maryland" and "Records of Zion Reformed Church of Hagerstown, Maryland", by
Louise L. Miller it appears that church records show Andrew LEITER was
married to Sarah, not Susan as everyone has been telling me. My Eleanora was
christened in April 1822 in one of these churches of Hagerstown which
documents her parents as Andrew LEITER and Sarah. Has anyone seen this
record from either source? If so, is it hard to read the name for the
mother, thus some confusion. Since I have not found Andrew on any census
from 1800-1850 I do not have a reliable source. Eleanora (sometimes spelled,
Elleanorah) married Uriah CASEY on 6 Jan 1841 in Richland Co, OH. She was
born, according to cemetery information 1 Sep 1820, which oddly enough, is
the day I was born some 34 years later. Eleanora is my 4th g-grandmother.
Lastly, does anyone know the migration pattern for Andrew and Sarah/Susan. I
did find a Andrew Leighter listed on the 1800 Elizabeth, Washington, MD
Census...is this the correct Andrew? I did not find him listed anytime
thereafter in Washington Co, MD. I think I found his son listed on the 1840
Washington Co Census living in Leitersburg, MD. Any thoughts are welcome
