Ann,
There is an estate document in the Will index:
SUTER, Peter Sr. 1848

There is also an estate distributions which mentions Jacob SUTER
KREAGER, Henry. Adm. Jacob RENNER 12/17/1834; Jacob Benner and Wife,
John's heirs, Daniel William, George, Jacob SUTER and wife, Henry, Henry
CHRIST and wife. T ($).

There are only two grooms other than Jacob/Eliz. Miller 10/1/1816
Peter/Cath. MARTIN 2/6/1830 [Their announcement indicates she was Mrs.
Catherine Martin - both of Hagerstown)
Geo. W. W./Hester L. Roberts 11/8/1851
Brides:
Ann Maria/ George BARRY 12/23/1847
Elenora/John BOYD 10/22/1857
Catherine M./John GEIGHT 5/11/1858
Marion S./Josiah HARTER 4/13/1859
Rosanna/William MARR 11/12/1844

In Nov. 1800 a house occupied by Peter SUTER and William MAHANNAH was
advertised for sale by the owner in Hagerstown.

Earlier traces of Suter are in the Evangelical Reformed Church in Frederick.
Dec. 23, 1857 Felix SUTER and Apollonia HOFMANN were sponsors for the
baptism of Johannes STURM.
Oct 7, 1800 William SUTER was a witness to the marriage of Samuel BODEN
and Susanna MAHN.

As you can see - Suter's aren't exactly thick on the ground. Hopefully
something in these will provide a clue for you.
