The Conococheague Creek enters Maryland from PA west of Hagerstown and
I-81, meanders southerly through small communities of Fairview and Wilson,
and empties into the Potomac River at Williamsport, MD, beneath a viaduct
built to carry the C&O Canal over it. The 1800 census records for
Conococheague Hundred are likely in the area between Hagerstown and Clear
Spring. Some of the names are still names of persons in that area today. Bob
