The other piece of this picture is that the survey was completed in the
1930's and some early gravesites were probably already lost by then.
Tombstones become unreadable, not to mention burials which did not have
stones. I have more burials not located than located within the county
- I know that the people died there, but don't have a burial site. My
burials that I can't locate are at the end of the 1700's and early
1800's - like 1814 and 1788. So I suspect that if there were stones,
they didn't survive or a family plot was lost. etc. Some family stones
that were clear in the 1988 were unreadable by by 2000.
