Years ago,I recieved a Xerox copy of a page in "Carolina Cradle"
listing some names on a petition of 1740-44 [?] from the inhabitants of
Salisbury Plains [Hagerstown area] to the court of Prince George Co,Md
asking to be set off as a new county. 3 Jones were included, and likely Evan
Shelby Sr and sons, and Thomas Cresap. Frederick Co,Md was cut from
Prince George in 1744 [?] and then in 1776, Washington Co and Montgomery Co
were cut from Frederick Co..
I've read portions of Scarff's "History of Baltimore,"and his "History of
Delaware,
but I've never had the chance to read Scarff's "History of Western
Maryland.".I'm interested in the Welsh colony [?].I've read a lot about the Shelby's and
the
Cresap's over the years, but I'm from Susanah Jones Fisher.I know where Welsh
Run is north of the Pa-Md line..I know much of neighoring counties.especially
Berkley CoWV.
