Ruth,
There are seven published volumes of Washington County Cemetery Records. The tombstones were read and recorded by 1935-36 by Samuel Webster Piper - so later burials are not in the publications. They went from his notebooks to typewritten volumes in the 1940's. The extent of this project for a single person staggers my mind - it was an incredible lot of work. They were published by Dale W. Morrow and are available for purchase from bookstores. The seven volumes are organized by districts. For example, Volume VII encompasses the cemeteries of Hagerstown District 22 (in part). Vol. III contains the cemeteries of Cavetown Dist. 7, Rohrersville Dist. 8 and Conococheague Dist. 13 and so on. I looked for you in Vol. II, III and VII. I don't have the other volumes. Sadly there are many unmarked graves/missing markers/unreadable markers by 1935. One that was photographed in the 1980's was unreadable by 2000.

The historian for Church of the Brethren monitors this list - hopefully he will contact you privately if he has anything to share. Or you can do a google search and try to find their historical archives.

Good luck!

Lauren: Thanks for your information. Someone else mentioned the
cemetery in Shiloh. What are the Cemetery Records? You mentioned Vol.
VII. They sound like a valuable tool. I'm in the process of trying to
find a copy of my Abraham Rowe's death certificate. I've never been
sent to so many different people, but I'll get there eventually. Ruth

Ruth,
The only Abraham Rowe in the marriage license index is
ROW(E), Abraham/Eliz. CROUSE 11/22/1814 - this is a generation before
your person.

Other possibilities among marriages on or before 1826:
Wm./Mary STARE 2/23/1802
Ph./Eliz. HARSHBERGER 10/10/06
Hn/Sr. ZIMMERMAN 4/8/1818 [married in St. John's Ev. Luth in
Hagerstown]
Sam./Eliz. HINTY 4/11/1821
John/Marg. BILLMYER 3/14/1826

There are no entries for Abraham Rowe in estate distributions 1778-1825
In the will index [1776-1890] there are these items:

ROWE, Ant. f 1823; f 1855
Chas f 1829
Jac. fw 1874
Jno. H. f 1872
Rich. f 1859
f = estate document
w = will

There is an obituary for Abram Rowe in the Hagerstown Mail 28 Jan. 1881

There is a John Row who is a merchant in Frederick County in 1752.

In Vol. VII of the Cemetery records a burial is recorded in Shiloh U.B.
[United Brethren] Church Graveyard near Fiddlersburg
ROWE, Abraham b. 14 Aug. 1823 d. 5 Mar.1916
, Ann E., w/o Abraham ROWE. b. 28 May 1826 d. 17 Nov. 1896
, Albert Dorsey, s/o David and Caroline ROWE age 2y 11m 1d
died 17 Nov. 1896

If this is your Abraham, I would check vital records to see if you can
get a death certificate which may establish who his parents are. A
search of the county website or the state website should help you
determine how to go about applying for a copy of the death certificate.
Or perhaps someone on the list who has done this process could advise
you - my research interests are back in the 1800's before vital records
in Washington County.
