Marilyn,
I have looked through all my resources for Washington County and found not a single entry for LaPorte. That included the marriage index, the will and estate document index, estate distributions to 1835, 5 volumes of newspaper extractions, the obituary locator, Brumbaugh Vol. 1 of colonial records, Passano's source records for MD, Vol. II, III and VII of the Cemetery records, Bible Records in the Washington County Free Library, Frederick Co marriage licenses 1778-1810, etc.

Washington County did not form until 1776, so anything before that would be in Frederick County Records. There are over 40 user submitted trees for George Laporte in Ancestry.com - you might have someone do a lookup for you so you can connect with more researchers.

Looking for any record of George LaPorte family. He took oath of loyalty in
Washington Co. abt. 1768?. His daughters, Margaret and Mary, were born in
1770's in Washington Co., MD. Mary and Margaret married Heavilin (Haviland)
brothers in Allegany Co., in 1790's. Family may have been involved in
Potomack Canal construction. George was a French Huguenot, his wife, Nancy, came
from Sussex Co., NJ. Any help would be appreciated.
