Found the following information in the book "Naturalizations of Washington County, Maryland Prior to 1880" by Marsha Lynne Fuller
Gardner, George Elitzhum, Baveria, 37, DATE OF BIRTH: 1807 REPORT DATE: 16 September 1844 NATURALIZATION DATE: 5 October 1846 Signature Page 51, Signature reads Gardner DEPARTURE PORT: Bremen, DEPARTURE DATE: 1839 ARRIVAL PORT: Baltimore 1839 WITNESS: Andrew Flater
Master, Conrad, No information listed re age, COB, or place of origin - NATURALIZATION DATE: 29 March 1843, no signature or X, Page 5 WITNESS: Abraham Newcomer. NOTE: Alpha Index reads "Cert." in Report Column
"If the Report column has the word "certificate" in it, it indicates that the report was filed somewhere else outside of Washington County and that the immigrant brought a certificate with him attesting to this to present to the Court.
No other GARDNER or MASTERS listed in the book
Hope this is a little help.

There is an obit for Mrs. George Gardner in the 29 April 1887 Hagerstown Mail. Her death age is listed as 40. There is also an obit for George Gardner in the Hagerstown Mail 8 Nov. 1889. There are 24 other Gardner entries in Ridenour's Obituary Locator. You can contact the Washington County Free Library to see if you can get copies of these if you aren't close enough to personally visit. There are also some Masters entries.
In Morrow & Morrow's Wills of Wash. Co. there is a will for a Yost Gardner in 1815, Mary M. in 1877, and there are estate documents for Ann in 1837, Mich. in 1876, and Scott H. in 1889. For Masters surname there are two entries. Jno. D. estate document in 1859 and Martin, will and estate documents 1880.
There is a general reference work on naturalizations, but I don't have it. Perhaps someone else on the list has it and can do a lookup for you.

When we recently located her gravesite and that of George, we saw some Masters stones around, but have been unable so far to link her with any of them.
Any help would be appreciated.
