Hi Bob,
No, I wasn't originally from Maryland - I am a native Coloradoan as is my husband. His GGrandfather was born in Washington County, moved to Ohio and they got the gold fever in 1849 - went to CA and then after several years of mining went back to Ohio only to take off in 1859 for the gold rush in Colorado. He came here in 1859 and stayed here. Others have helped me along the way so I try to share my resources as do others on the list. The willingness to share is what makes a great list in my opinion. I don't have a large library on Washington County - probably 15 - 20 books. I have been at this since Roots-l was one listserve that served the whole country and I got to listen in on some really fine experts. I watched it evolve from one list to regional lists to state lists then to county lists. I think it is a remarkable volunteer effort. We should be grateful to the volunteers who keep all this wonderful resource working - sometimes we take for granted all that volunteer
effort. I know I am grateful to all the past and present volunteer coordinators for their unselfish work.. While they're doing that, they aren't able to spend time on their own genealogy.
