Kimberly,
There are no Buckwalter/Buchwalter entries in the will and estate distribution lists (Morrow & Morrow). It may be that they moved on to somewhere else. The land records would tell you when and to whom he sold his property.

The newspaper extracts indicate that in 1823 a Jacob Buckwalter was married to Catherine Stover by Rev. Benjamin Kurtz - he was pastor at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran in Hagerstown - neither of these people was in the church records. (Vol. 13 of MD German Church Records). The son who died was named John. There is also in November 1824 a Benjamin Buckwalter in the extracts who married Catherine Miller - nothing in records. The marriage license index (Morrow & Morrow) lists a marriage license in 1826 between Kathl. Buckwalter and Nancy Burrell. I would consider a transcription error - possibly Nathl. .

I checked Passano's Source Records of Maryland and this is what she has for Ridenour:

This might be the Buckwalter I'm looking for. Miles Carey was working on the
George Ridenour of Hagerstown who came from Lancaster County, Pa. and
settled on the old Buckwalter place. George had a son named Benjamin that
married a Shafer.

Those who come down through Benjamin's son Jacob Reidenauer have his birth
place as Mercersberg, Pa. The researchers of Jacob Shaffer of Mercersberg
Pa. mention a John Shaffer of Berks County, Pa that purchased a tract in
Montgomery twp. Franklin County, Pa. from Gerhard Buckwalter.

Thanks,
Kimberly Williams
